MicroCell uses ultrasonic sensors to generate synth-like audio and LED animations. Referencing the form of communication hardware mounted to architecture and urban infrastructure, the sculpture challenges the relationship we have with these systems by allowing the viewer to interact with the invisible frequencies that facilitate modern communication systems, and silently fill the air around us.
Like a the hardware the form is inspired by, this piece serves as a data broadcast and receiver device for a larger system. The cumulative interaction of this piece is interpreted into a value that is supplied into Meastra, and integrated into other installations. Interaction data from other installations are used to adjust the intensity and mood of lights and audio. Configured specifically for currents x relay ambient integence show.
