Owen Schwab is an Artist and Designer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Owens practice is built around two core tenets: light and participation. In his works, Schwab embraces the space defining quality of light with the heavy use of LED pixels. The light emitted from his sculptures define the space around the installations, claiming the illuminated area as part of his artworks. Schwab's works pull the viewer into a role of active participant. Through the use of electronics, his sculptures and installations translate the viewer's input into audio visual stimuli. His works often encourage communal participation, fostering connection between strangers and friends.

The use of industrial materials in Schwab's works reflects his fascination with the built environment and the physical systems that facilitate a digitally connected world. As a child of rural southern New Mexico, Schwab's appreciation for the untouched high desert landscape drives his curiosity for the constructed world and our participation in these systems. Owen is a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning, where his education led him to examine the spatial and conceptual relationship between people and our environment. Owens' work has been shown in New Mexico and Texas, most notably at the Currents New Media Festival in 2024, and a featured loan at the El Paso Museum of Art in 2025.
